Hurray for closet rails!

Our contractor finally put up our closet rails yesterday, in our bedroom and Calvin's bedroom. Ohh, what a difference a small piece of metal makes! We managed to clear out four large boxes (supplying Bryn and Calvin with more than enough building materials for a duplex), found space for all of our clothes, and found our dresser!

Calvin's mad basketball skills

Oh how he loves the basketball
Just did it.

Grownups Say the Darndest Things

Sometimes I wonder what the world is like for a 4-year-old, particularly when it comes to language. Bryn is so literal with idioms. I just told her to be a good sport about sharing with Calvin, and she said (defiantly), "I'm not a sport. People don't play with me like I'm a ball. I'm a girl."

And today for some reason I started singing "Dancing in the street," and she got her wide-eyed concerned look on her face and then started laughing hysterically and said, "we don't really dance in the street," and then added a bit more seriously, "do we, mom?" Poor kid. I'll have to remember not to say "that cost me an arm and a leg," anytime soon.

Movie Making

It's essay time (for you, not me). This is a bit random, but what (if any) video editing software do you use, would you recommend it, and why? I've been using the stuff that came on my computer (windows movie make), but I'm ready to move on.

It burns, it burns!

I had no idea a kiwi could be so vindictive. There I was eating dinner, and after enjoying one sweet succulent kiwi, I decided to dive into another. This one was not quite ripe, but I decided to suffer through it anyway, since I'd already peeled it and the dang thing was expensive.
As I ate it, I noticed a slight burning sensation at the end of my tongue. And yet, I determinedly ate more. I guess there was a pretty high acid content, because two hours later my tongue was still burning, and I had bright red raised bumps all over it. It felt like someone had sandblasted it and poured lemon juice on it. So beware: never eat underipe kiwi (NEUK), unless you too want a set of new taste buds.

Bag Tag (what's in your wallet?):
(tagged by Rebecca)

*The bag: Ecuadorian purse purchase from the thrift store for 1 US dollar.
*Plastic utensils/salt & pepper in a bag (just in case I find some tasty roadkill while I'm driving)
*gum (I do this for posterity-as a kid, I loved that my mom always had gum in her purse)
*T-mobile ToGo phone
*checkbook
*ultra mentha lip shine
*3 safetypins (you never know when you're going to have to MacGyver a solution to something)
*2 hairbands
*blue pen
*car keys with sweet keychain (giant bug encased in silicone)
*hempz lotion
*wallet (my Christmas present to myself) with more cash than I ever usually carry because I've got Christmas money burning a hole in it

Birthday Wishes on video

I picked up a new firewire cable this month and I've spent a lot of time the last couple of weeks making movies. I'm trying to decide which video webhost I like better... YouTube or Google Video.

Anyway, happy birthday Greg (Peter's dad) and Mom!
