Raging Maine

[with karen visiting] Laura took Karen Inc. up to the Maine to visit Nubble Light and York Beach. The waves were intense after Sandy's visit.

Soggy Boston

[with karen visiting] Sunday evening we wandered into the back bay of Boston and saw the brownstones and the skyscrapers.

Gnarly Newport

[with karen visiting] As Frankenstorm Sandy was looming in the forecast, we took the opportunity to sneak in another beach trip down in Newport, RI. The air temperature was around 60 degrees, and so was the water temperature.

Bestest friends- they have a similar MO toward life and couldn't get enough of each other on this visit.

Despite the frigid water temperatures, Peter and I went on a boogie board date. It was brief.

After the beach, we enjoyed a backyard bbq courtesy of Tim and gathered around the mesmerizing  light of a floor lamp in the grass.

Singing Beach

Lance and Laura and I carted our families up to Singing Beach for a Saturday picnic. Lance caught some wicked waves with the boogie board, Bryn found a dead baby seal, Calvin continued his dig for China, and the rest of us soaked in some of the the last warm rays of the year.

P-School

Miss Ivy started preschool this year. We're doing a co-op, and one of our team members is a professional photographer and took this shot today. Talk about a perk!

Pug Love

Best of all for Calvin, there was a pug to love in the petting zoo. He is completely obsessed with pugs, and given the choice between pony rides, a corn maze, pumpkin launching, pumpkin painting, and the petting zoo, he chose the petting zoo because of the pug.

Pets by the Hour

We had some great adventures with the Balls in RI over the weekend. We visited a lovely farm that was hosting all sorts of autumnal activities, including this wicked cool petting zoo. I've saved Calvin's favorite animal for a different post.

Tots and Robber

Observed on the playground: Ivy (3) and a fellow toddler were occupying a tunnel up on the structure. Another young lad (around 7) kept trying to pass through said tunnel, but was always met with shouts of “Robber! AGHHHH! Robber!!!” coming from the 3 year-olds.

After a few rounds of this, the lad exasperatedly proclaimed, “Look, I’m not a robber. I’m a decent guy, and I think you’d like me if you got to know me.” A lesson for life.
