Bûche de Noël

Calvin and I made a Bûche de Noël for his French class. We learned so much- first time rolling up a a baked good for both of us. He loved the idea of the meringue mushrooms, so I stayed up until midnight making them (long time in a low oven!). The gummy worms were his idea also.

Dog sitting Cooper- always a dream come true for my kids

A Youth Tree- they're almost ripe

The next morning I went with Elisabeth and Ellen up to Milford, NH for breakfast and a bit of shopping.

Preschool pics

Her school picture

Cece had preschool pictures today. They were shot indoors, so in order to match the other kids' outdoor school pictures, I took a few of her in the driveway on a little stool. The cloudy day suddenly allowed just enough filtered sun through and for a couple of minutes we had perfect picture lighting.

Wayside Inn

We ate lunch at Wayside Inn and took a walk to see the nearby historic grist mill, school house (allegedly the origin of Mary of "Mary had a Little Lamb" fame), and church. We all decided we needed to play tourist in our own country more often!

Boats and Donuts

What a beautiful Saturday! I had a list of boring "to do's" a mile long, but I scrapped most of them as soon as I stepped outside. Instead we went canoeing/kayaking on the concord river and had fresh apple cider donuts for lunch.
The view when I looked up from my position in the next picture (our trees)

Ivy and I were so excited that our outfits coordinated so well (black pants, black shirt, rainbow graphic). Cece was so excited to sneak her way into the picture with us.

Thanks for the little paddle, boat house people. We perpetually veered right.

The dangers of suntanning for too long cannot be overemphasized.

Great morning for turtles! They were surfacing everywhere.

Heron alert!

Okay fine, I'll live here.

We saw so many people we knew at Wilson Farm! Not shown: the Moores, Hannah (Cece's friend from preschool), the Colemans, and Jack Hatch (well, he saw us from his pickup truck)
