Hats for sale

Laura used her magical crocheting skills to fashion hats for the kids. They love them! And by they I mean the older three. Cece wants to incinerate hers.

Cece 10 months

Cece is 10 months old. So much happened last month, and even in the last week! She said her first words: hat, eyes, ouch, cat, meow, eggs (for the Easter Egg vinyls on the window), started crawling at the church, began waving "hi," began pulling up on furniture, and ate baby food (beef dinner, no less). Sadly, sleeping through the night is not in her developmental repertoire yet.

A Piercing Stare

Bryn decided this was the month she would get her ears pierced. After much badgering and a desperate offer that she would even pay for half, we settled on going to the mall during the Pinewood Derby.

Pinewood Archery

Calvin designed an arrow-shaped car for the Pinewood derby. He was a good sport not winning, and liked it's cool design and the fact that he did most of the work himself. We went out to a woodworking toy shop in Marlborough to get the cars cut (after the kids designed them), and they were able to paint them onsite. The person who runs the shop is both jovial and crotchety at the same time- a good combination when there are power tools, paint, and wee kids all around.

Ivy's pink and purple heart wedge car came in first in the sibling race. She was so very proud of her victory, and Calvin was a great sport about it. His job was to take pictures with Peter's phone.

Broken February Break

Our February break was a bit of a bust due to Cece kicking it off with a 4 day fever resulting in a stormy day hospital visit to diagnose ear infections and a UTI. Peter and I both battled colds (his eardrum burst from an ear infection and my ethmoid sinus flared up for a couple of days), and said blizzard and frigid temps were a bit of a downer.

But despite our awful luck, the kids still enjoyed relaxing close to home. We even got out a few times for piano lessons with friends, sledding, and lunch at the fancy Scottish restaurant with friends. And we have high hopes that April vacation will be a bit warmer and more fun.

To the Mountains

We had a ski resort adventure with the Balls at Attitash in New Hampshire. I was watching a PBS special on John Denver and they mentioned that he wrote "Annie's Song" on a ski lift. I believe it- there's something magical that happens when you get back to nature even in the bleak chill of winter.

It was our kids' first time, and they loved it! We put them in lessons and they had learned so much even after the first day. I was able to ski the whole mountain with them at the end of the second day (the green runs).

Tell me that's not the cutest snow plow ever.

Cece loved the en suite ginormo bath tub.
